After 19 years of separation reunification story of Awais

Today after 19 long years of separation, Awais is finally reunited with his mother. This deeply emotional moment reflects hope, patience, faith, and the life changing efforts of Mera Pyara – Virtual Center for Child Safety.

Awais was a resident of Gujrat. In 2007, he traveled to Lahore with his family, where he got separated and went missing. At that time he was unable to communicate his home address or family details, which made it hard to trace his relatives. With no identification information available, authorities could not connect him back to his family. For his safety, protection, and well-being, he was placed under the custody of the Child Protection Bureau, where he lived in shelter homes among other unidentified and vulnerable children.

While Awais was growing up away from his loved ones, his family never stopped searching for him. Years passed with pain, uncertainty, and unanswered questions, but their hope never faded. Like many families of missing children, they held onto faith that one day they would see him again.

The turning point came through the dedicated efforts of the Mera Pyara team that is working under Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA). As a part of its mission, Mera Pyara works to identify and reunite lost and vulnerable children with their families. The team conducted detailed interviews of children living in shelter homes, created digital records, and recorded video profiles of unidentified children. These videos were shared through official digital platforms and social media so families across regions could identify their loved ones.

One of these videos reached Awais’ family — and everything changed. They recognized him immediately.

After proper verification, documentation, and coordination with relevant departments, today Awais stands face-to-face with his mother once again. At that moment, time feels like it stops. His mother breaks down in tears and holds her son tightly in her arms, as if trying to recover 19 years of separation in a single embrace. This reunion captures pure emotion — a mother’s love, relief, and a family’s prayers finally answered.

Mera Pyara not only works on reunions. It deals with all types of child safety concerns, including missing children, child abuse, exploitation, neglect, and cases involving vulnerable or unidentified minors. The platform acts as a bridge between citizens and law enforcement agencies to ensure quick response, protection, and support.
