This is the reunification story of Umer, a lost child who is finally reunited with his family after five long years. It shows the impact of Mera Pyara – Virtual Center for Child Safety in bringing lost children back to their loved ones.
Umer went missing from Sahiwal in 2021. He was mentally unstable and could not share his name, address, or any other helpful information. This made it very hard to find his family. Despite many efforts, no clues were found. To keep him safe, Umer was placed in an Edhi Home, where he stayed for several years.
Mera Pyara, working under the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), to reunite lost children with their families. The team interviews unclaimed children living in Edhi Homes without any identification. These interviews were shared on social media to help identify them.
Umer was one of these children.
One day, Muhammad Bilal saw a video of Umer online and instantly recognised him as his long-lost brother. After years of uncertainty, hope returned to the family. He quickly contacted the Mera Pyara team.
The team then carried out a complete verification process. They contacted the family, confirmed identities, and completed all necessary legal procedures. Finally the day comes, Umer is safely reunited with his brother in Multan.
The reunion was deeply emotional. Mera Pyara connects families with their lost loved ones through a centralised, technology-driven system.
Mera Pyara continues to serve as a national lost-and-found platform for children. With public help, social media, and dedicated efforts, countless families have already been reunited. You can read another emotional reunion story of lost child Salman on Mera Pyara website.
If you need to report any lost or unidentified child, you can reach out to Mera Pyara through toll-free Punjab Emergency helpline 15, official whatsapp 0309-0000015, PSCA Public Safety app or Mera Pyara official social media accounts.
